Ever considered building your own actuarial consultancy? I’m working with a seed-funded startup building AI tools to automate actuarial work for corporate self-insurance. They’re hiring their first US actuary to work directly with the founders across three areas: Review and sign actuarial studies. Build trusted relationships with clients. Win work and grow the US business. There’s also a direct link to the product. Your actuarial judgment and feedback will help improve how the AI produces its work. They’re looking for FCAS or FSA, plus MAAA, with the qualifications to sign the relevant US actuarial opinions. P&C consulting experience is particularly relevant. Captives, Risk Retention Groups and self-insurance would be strong advantages. They’d also like to hear what you’ve built or tested with Python and AI, whether at work or in your own time. You can be based in SF or elsewhere in the US, with regular travel to clients and industry events. This is a role for someone who wants to build a business as well as deliver actuarial work.
