Position Description

The Department of Professional Studies in the School of Business at the College of Charleston invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in one of our seven sub-specialties, including advanced manufacturing, applied communications, construction management, healthcare and medical services management, organizational management and development, project management, and quality and risk management, or closely related fields. All courses within this program are taught in an accelerated 7-week remote format, either asynchronous online or synchronous online. This posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time FTE faculty position, but rather for a pool of candidates who may be considered for teaching 1-2 classes in the fall, spring, or summer sessions. QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum academic requirement is a master’s degree and course-related professional experience. Candidates should demonstrate relevant academic and/or professional expertise and a commitment to high-quality teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who are enthusiastic, collegial, engaged with students, good communicators, and team players. ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The Bachelor of Professional Studies program is the College’s primary online degree-completion program. It is intentionally designed to meet the needs of working adults who require an application-based curriculum with the flexibility of online and evening classes. The program is housed in the AACSB-accredited School of Business. Founded in 1770, the College of Charleston is a public comprehensive university committed to developing ethically centered, intellectually versatile, and globally fluent citizens who create innovative solutions to social, economic, and environmental challenges. In its 2020 edition, U.S. News & World Report ranks the College as the No. 5 top public college in the South, the No. 3 ranked college for veterans among Southern institutions, the No. 8 most innovative school in the region, the No. 8 best college for undergraduate teaching in the South, and a best value regional college.
