About the Role

We are seeking a talented, self-motivated, and experienced BigCommerce Developer to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, customizing, and optimizing high-performing e-commerce stores for a diverse portfolio of international clients. From custom Stencil theme development to advanced API integrations, you will play a key role in delivering seamless, responsive, and conversion-focused online shopping experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, customize, and maintain BigCommerce themes using Stencil, Handlebars, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Build, configure, and manage BigCommerce storefronts from the ground up. Customize existing themes and develop custom storefront features based on business requirements. Integrate third-party applications, payment gateways, shipping solutions, CRM platforms, and other e-commerce tools. Work with BigCommerce APIs, including REST and GraphQL, to develop custom integrations and functionality. Optimize website performance, including page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile responsiveness, and conversion rates. Convert Figma, Adobe XD, or similar design mockups into responsive, pixel-perfect e-commerce websites. Troubleshoot technical issues, fix bugs, perform code reviews, and maintain clean, scalable code. Work with product catalogs, checkout functionality, custom fields, and other BigCommerce store features. Collaborate with SEO, design, and marketing teams to improve website functionality and user experience. Communicate effectively with US-based clients during overlapping working hours. Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience in BigCommerce development. Strong expertise in BigCommerce Stencil framework and theme customization. Proficiency in Handlebars, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+). Experience with BigCommerce REST APIs, GraphQL, and Storefront APIs. Hands-on experience with Stencil CLI and local theme development workflows. Familiarity with Git and GitHub version control workflows. Experience integrating third-party apps, payment gateways, shipping solutions, and other e-commerce services. Strong understanding of responsive web design, website performance, and cross-browser compatibility. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and consistently meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Availability to work during US business hours, with EST/PST overlap

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with BigCommerce Enterprise and B2B Edition. Knowledge of headless commerce architecture and frameworks such as Next.js and React. Experience with Catalyst or other modern BigCommerce storefront technologies. Understanding of e-commerce SEO best practices, structured data, and technical SEO. Experience with third-party integrations, middleware, and custom app development. Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Klaviyo and Mailchimp. Knowledge of A/B testing, CRO tools, and conversion optimization strategies. Experience migrating e-commerce stores from Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, or other platforms to BigCommerce.
