Position: Clinical, Microbiome & Translational Research Scientist Type: Contract Compensation: $45 - $90/hour Location: Remote Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week Role Responsibilities

• Design and write challenging scientific problems in microbiome/metagenomics and related life sciences with verifiable solutions.
• Review and evaluate AI model outputs for scientific accuracy and depth of reasoning.
• Develop detailed rubrics and reference answers grounded in primary literature.
• Apply domain expertise in areas such as metagenomics, biomarker discovery, and precision medicine.
• Provide clear written explanations of reasoning for validation by other experts.
• Meet quality standards through iterative feedback and peer review.

Requirements

• PhD in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Epidemiology, or a related field.
• Hands-on research experience in an academic or industry lab.
• Professional written and spoken English proficiency (C1 or higher).
• Experience with microbiome tools like QIIME2, Kraken2, and MetaPhlAn.
• Programming skills in Python and/or R, and familiarity with workflow tools.
