Key Responsibilities

Perform retrospective outpatient facility coding using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers. Accurately assign first-listed, secondary diagnoses, reasons for visit, and procedures. Review medical documentation for coding accuracy, medical necessity, and compliance with coding guidelines. Resolve applicable LCD, NCD, and CCI edits. Validate charge-master-driven CPT assignments and abstract required data elements. Identify documentation gaps and initiate physician queries when appropriate. Meet established coding quality and productivity standards. Provide coding guidance and training as needed. ✅

Required Qualifications

Active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, or eligible CPC/CPC-H credential. 3–5 years of acute hospital-based facility coding experience. Hands-on experience in Day Surgery and/or Emergency Department coding. Experience with Epic EMR and 3M 360 Encoder preferred. Strong computer skills and knowledge of outpatient facility coding guidelines. Reliable high-speed internet, VPN connectivity, and a dedicated, quiet, private workspace to protect PHI.
