Job description:

Collaborating Physician / Supervising Psychiatrist – Mental Health (Remote)

Job Type: Part-Time / Independent Contractor (1099)

Location: Remote – South Carolina and/or Ohio

Compensation: $540–$1,000 per month (based on caseload and supervisory responsibilities)

Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per month

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Collaborating Physician or Psychiatrist to provide clinical oversight and collaboration for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) delivering mental health and behavioral health services.

This is a flexible, remote opportunity ideal for a physician looking to supplement their current practice with a limited monthly time commitment.

The collaborating physician will provide clinical guidance, be available for consultation as needed, review patient medical records, and provide medication oversight in accordance with applicable state regulations.

The NP currently manages a caseload of approximately 50 patients per week, primarily providing psychiatric medication management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical collaboration and oversight for one Nurse Practitioner delivering mental health and behavioral health services.
  • Remain available on-call for clinical consultation, questions, and guidance as needed.
  • Review patient medical charts and documentation to ensure appropriate clinical care and compliance.
  • Review and sign off on medication orders or prescribing documentation as required by applicable state laws and collaborative practice agreements.
  • Provide guidance on medication management, treatment planning, and complex patient cases when necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of physician collaboration and supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable South Carolina and/or Ohio medical board regulations and collaborative practice requirements.

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted MD or DO license in South Carolina, Ohio, or both.
  • Psychiatry specialization or experience in mental health and behavioral health strongly preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with or supervising Nurse Practitioners preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric medication management and prescribing practices.
  • Familiarity with state-specific NP collaboration and supervision requirements.
  • Ability to provide timely consultation and clinical support remotely.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Remote Position: No regular on-site hours anticipated, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Flexible Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per month, depending on patient volume and clinical needs.
  • Caseload: Oversight of one NP managing approximately 50 patients weekly.
  • Monthly Compensation: $540–$1,000, depending on caseload, licensure, and the scope of supervisory responsibilities.
  • Opportunity for additional compensation if supervisory responsibilities or caseload increase.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a licensed physician or psychiatrist seeking additional monthly income without the commitment of a traditional clinical schedule.

The role provides flexible remote collaboration, a defined NP caseload, and the opportunity to support accessible mental health care.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply with their current state licensure information and relevant experience collaborating with Nurse Practitioners.

Application Question(s):

  • Are you licensed in SC and or OH?

Education:

  • Doctorate (Preferred)

Active unrestricted MD or DO license in South Carolina or Ohio; psychiatry specialization preferred; experience supervising NPs preferred; strong knowledge of psychiatric medication management; remote consultation ability; doctorate preferred.
