Director of Information Technology

Remote · Mexico Full-time

Role Overview The Director of Information Technology will oversee the internal technology estate end to end and lead the team responsible for running it. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, this full-time role based in the United States covers identity, endpoints, networking, collaboration, service management, and the internal artificial intelligence platform across a distributed, remote-first organization. This position is designed for a leader experienced in building and scaling internal technology through periods of rapid growth, possessing the capability to construct a multi-year roadmap while maintaining the ability to resolve operational issues directly. The role collaborates closely with Security, Engineering, Finance, and Human Resources leadership while managing vendor and managed service provider relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Build and execute a multi-year internal technology roadmap across identity, endpoints, networking, collaboration, and service management. Tie technology investments directly to business outcomes with defined success measures. Define internal delivery models versus services managed through partners and managed service providers. Establish IT governance, operating standards, architecture reviews, and change management. Design the internal IT function, build business cases for headcount, and hire and develop team members. Mentor the team and establish clear ownership, on-call schedules, and escalation models. Build and maintain the internal service catalog and associated service level agreements. Own internal AI tool use case development, rollout, training, and adoption measurement. Partner with the organization's AI practice so internal usage directly informs client-facing delivery. Apply financial engineering to the internal AI estate by developing unit-cost models, forecasting consumption, negotiating commitments and reserved capacity, and holding AI expenditures accountable to measured productivity gains. Own endpoint management, configuration baselines, patching, and hardware lifecycles using Intune or equivalent systems. Manage the Microsoft 365 collaboration environment, including Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange governance. Define and enforce device posture requirements for a remote-first workforce. Direct internal network architecture, remote access, and secure connectivity models. Manage the internal cloud and hosting footprint, including capacity, cost, and resilience. Direct backup, recovery, and business continuity for internal systems with tested recovery objectives. Establish and mature IT service management across intake, incident, problem, request, and change processes. Publish operational metrics and systematically eliminate key sources of employee workflow friction. Oversee the onboarding and offboarding technology experience in partnership with Human Resources. Manage the internal IT budget, financial forecasts, and software licensing positions. Rationalize the SaaS estate and direct renewals, contract negotiations, and vendor terms. Hold external partners and managed service providers accountable to defined service levels. Partner with security leadership to execute the IT components of the broader security program. Support SOC 2 and ISO audit readiness, including control operation and evidence collection. Own vulnerability management and remediation across internal systems and endpoints. Required Qualifications 10+ years of information technology experience, including proven experience leading teams or owning a technology function. Demonstrated experience building and scaling internal IT within a distributed or remote-first company during periods of rapid growth. Experience presenting technology strategy, investment recommendations, operational risks, and performance metrics to executive leadership. Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, endpoint management (Intune or equivalent), and SaaS administration at scale. Demonstrated ownership of internal AI adoption and governance, including policy creation, data handling, and change management. Strong security fluency, with the ability to partner credibly with executive security leadership and translate technical risk into business terms. Proven experience supporting SOC 2, ISO, or related regulated compliance and audit requirements. Experience managing IT budgets and negotiating contracts with vendors and managed service providers. Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both executive and technical audiences, in writing and in person.
