Experienced WordPress Developer Born West is a creative tech agency. We turn ambitious ideas into working software—from inception to launch. We partner with ambitious brands and founders to design, build, and scale high-impact digital products. Our work spans product strategy, design, and engineering—delivering thoughtful, scalable solutions that solve real problems. We're looking for passionate, self-motivated engineers who learn fast and thrive in high-ownership, fast-paced environments. The Role We're looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to own the development, customization, and performance of high-quality WordPress websites. You'll work closely with designers, product managers, and marketers to build fast, secure, and scalable web experiences. This role is ideal for someone who understands WordPress deeply—not just themes and plugins, but performance, architecture, and best practices.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain custom WordPress websites
• Develop custom themes and plugins when needed
• Turn Figma designs into responsive, well-structured front-end code
• Improve performance, security, and reliability of existing sites
• Debug issues without needing everything spelled out
• Integrate third-party tools, APIs, and services
• Keep code clean, readable, and easy for others to work with
• Collaborate with designers, QA, and stakeholders to deliver on time

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of real-world WordPress development experience
• Strong PHP skills and a solid grasp of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Experience building custom themes/plugins, not just configuring them
• Good understanding of how WordPress works internally (hooks, templates, REST API, etc.)
• Comfort with performance tuning and basic security best practices
• Experience using Git and working in a team environment
• Someone who takes ownership and cares about quality

Nice To Have

• Familiar with ACF Pro/ACF Extended, Relevanssi, multilingual setups, headless WordPress, etc.
• Basic DevOps knowledge (Docker, CI/CD, hosting platforms like WP Engine, Kinsta)
• Understanding of SEO and analytics tools like Yoast and GA
• An eye for performance and UX

Why Work With Us

• Flexible work setup
• Collaborative, no-micromanagement culture
• A team that values good engineering over shortcuts
• Space to suggest improvements and influence technical decisions
