Open role
Founding Engineer
Lazyweb is an AI Growth PM backed by a16z Speedrun, which we've scaled 0->1m ARR in 10 weeks. Now we're hiring employee #1 - a founding engineer. This role is for someone who actively wants to join at the beginning: shaping what we build, and taking responsibility beyond engineering. You’ll spend most of your time building, but you’ll also help us build this company from the ground up. We're looking for someone who finds the frontier exciting, and is interested in pushing that forward on a small but mighty team. What we’re building In the last year, the core bottleneck for EPD teams has shifted from engineering to product management. We're building an AI Growth PM that can actually tell you how to grow your product. It analyzes screens and interaction flows across thousands of apps and websites, use multimodal LLMs to interpret their design and behavior, and track changes like experiments and variant rollouts over time. Using that data, we generate roadmaps for customers to help them grow faster than ever. What you’ll do Expand our AI-powered Growth PM via harness engineering, data, evals, etc. Explore and apply frontier capabilities - post training, benchmarks, latest white papers. Design systems for storing, comparing, and tracing screens, flows, and variants over time Own services and infrastructure from initial implementation through production operation Identify what matters, test assumptions, and move the product forward What we’re looking for 5+ years of SWE experience, or equivalent depth Experience in application layer AI, harness engineering, or LLM post-training Strong backend fundamentals and experience shipping and operating production systems. Initiative, creativity, and an interest in finding product market fit for something new Why join this early You’ll help shape the architecture, product direction, and engineering culture from the outset. Your influence will extend beyond the code you write, and the role will evolve with your strengths and the company’s needs. Location: Remote with US timezone working hours required. Eastern or Central Time is somewhat preferred for coordination with the team, but other US time zones are also doable. Occasional travel for in person work, likely about once a quarter. Compensation: $150K-$250K, 0.5% - 1.5%
