Open role
Fractional CMO
Symbiome is a skincare brand grounded in systems biology and postbiotic fermentation, with ingredients sourced from a regenerative farming partnership in Brazil's Atlantic rainforest. The brand has recently launched with Printemps New York, Nordstrom, Thirteen Lune and Oasis Face Bar, alongside a national spa and professional channel. This is a senior advisory engagement of roughly 10 to 15 hours per month. The fractional CMO will serve as the senior read across the full marketing stack, including email and lifecycle, paid search, paid social, and organic content. The role also spans brand positioning across DTC, retail and professional channels, marketing P&L ownership, first-to-second purchase conversion improvement, and opening wholesale accounts in prestige beauty, specialty retail and the spa/professional channel.
- Advise across the full marketing stack including email, lifecycle, paid search, paid social and organic content, identifying where budget is being wasted
- Own marketing P&L metrics including CAC, contribution margin and channel mix trade-offs
- Define and refine brand positioning and message architecture across DTC, retail and professional channels
- Drive first-to-second purchase conversion improvement, building on existing strong post-second-purchase retention
- Open and develop wholesale accounts in prestige beauty, specialty retail and spa/professional channels
- Provide senior oversight of the marketing team and channel partners without direct execution responsibility
- Senior marketing leadership experience in beauty, personal care or premium CPG
- Demonstrated P&L accountability alongside genuine brand-building capability
- Proven wholesale track record with active buyer relationships in prestige beauty, specialty retail and professional/spa channels
- Fluency across email, paid and organic channels sufficient to direct and evaluate the work
- Comfort working closely with a founder in a small, detail-oriented team environment
- Ability to evaluate channel plans and identify inefficiencies across the marketing mix
