Job Title – Lead GenAI Engineer Location: South San Francisco, CA – Hybrid/Remote - Bay Area preferred, with ability to work from the office 1–2 days per week - Otherwise, must provide 4–6 hours of daily working overlap with Pacific Time Duration: 6 Months with the possibility of extension Role Overview Roche is seeking a Senior Lead GenAI Engineer to architect and build production-ready generative AI applications for personalized commercial marketing content. The role focuses on multi-agent orchestration, stateful GenAI applications, API-first architecture, and structured content generation. This is a hands-on technical leadership position requiring architecture decisions, coding, and production implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build production-grade GenAI applications using Python or TypeScript. Develop stateful, multi-turn, multi-agent orchestration with conversation history, memory, and clarification flows. Build API-first, headless services that generate structured JSON or HTML for downstream platforms. Integrate GenAI applications with enterprise APIs, data services, and content repositories. Implement RAG, grounding, evaluations, streaming, and production observability. Develop reusable content outputs with tables, charts, citations, and structured responses. Establish architecture, coding standards, and technical patterns; review code and deliver critical components. Leverage AWS, Amazon Bedrock, and AgentCore for GenAI application development. Top Requirements Strong hands-on experience building and architecting production GenAI applications. Advanced Python or TypeScript development and microservices experience. Expertise in multi-agent systems, orchestration, application state, and memory. Strong API design, structured contracts, and headless service architecture. Experience with RAG, grounding, evaluation frameworks, and observability. Experience with streaming GenAI interfaces and multi-turn conversational workflows. Strong AWS, Amazon Bedrock, and AgentCore experience. Ability to lead technical architecture while remaining hands-on with production code. Best Candidate Background Senior GenAI/AI Application Engineer or Staff-level Software Engineer with proven production deployment experience. Strong background in agentic AI, LLM orchestration, RAG, Python/TypeScript, and AWS Bedrock. Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise platforms and generating structured content. Preferred exposure to Workfront, Veeva Vault PromoMats, AEM Assets, marketing technology, or regulated pharmaceutical content. Bay Area candidates able to work onsite 1–2 days per week are preferred. Remote candidates must provide 4–6 hours of daily overlap with Pacific Time.
