Role Description As the SEO and AI Search Leader, you’ll own how Pet Honesty gets found, trusted, and recommended across AI search and shopping platforms, turning the brand’s veterinary expertise and clinical research into the answers pet parents rely on. We are seeking an SEO and AI Search Leader who is a hands-on expert in how LLMs find, evaluate and recommend brands. Unlike a traditional SEO role, this position leads with AI search, with organic SEO as the foundation underneath it. The successful candidate will turn those audits into prioritized fixes and connect AI and organic performance to traffic, subscriptions and revenue.

Responsibilities

• Run regular AI search and SEO audits (technical, content, keyword, schema and entity) to establish a true baseline of how Pet Honesty is found, cited and recommended across various platforms.
• Turn audit findings into a prioritized roadmap focused on low-lift, high-return fixes, and track progress over time.
• Build and run the experimentation engine, testing content, page structures, authorship, veterinary-expertise signals and technical changes to learn what drives AI visibility, citation and product recommendation.
• Write clear briefs for our third-party web vendor and partner with Ecommerce, Growth and Business Intelligence to improve structured data, semantic HTML, internal linking, site architecture and crawlability.
• Partner with R&D, veterinary experts and Regulatory to turn ingredient data, clinical studies and science advisory council expertise into accurate, compliant content that AI engines cite.
• Improve the consistency of product data (ingredients, benefits, dosing guidance, reviews, pricing and availability) across various platforms.
• Set writing standards for search and AI retrieval, building on existing guidelines, and partner with copy and channel owners to apply them.
• Extend visibility across the third-party platforms that shape AI answers in pet health.
• Own the SEO and AEO scorecard, connecting organic and AI discovery performance to traffic, conversion, subscriptions, marketplace sales and retail demand.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in technical and organic SEO, with a full-time focus on AEO and GEO in recent years and a track record of growing organic traffic.
• Hands-on experience auditing and improving brand visibility across AI search, answer and shopping experiences.
• Deep understanding of how search engines and LLM-based systems crawl, index, retrieve, cite and recommend content and products.
• Technical fluency with structured data and schema/JSON-LD (especially Product, Offer and Review), product feeds, semantic HTML, site architecture, rendering, canonicalization and indexing.
• Experience with Google Search Console, Google Merchant Center, Semrush, Ahrefs and AI visibility platforms.
• Experience writing technical briefs for developers and content standards for answer-first, machine-readable copy.
• Ability to create and edit content directly and to brief freelancers and internal experts, including veterinarians.
• Proven ability to connect search and AI visibility performance to ecommerce revenue and other business outcomes.
• In-house DTC, ecommerce or omnichannel consumer brand experience, or agency experience advising consumer brands on AI search.
• Experience with pet health, supplements, CPG or other regulated categories is a plus.
