Patient Consent Coordinator

Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Patient Consent Coordinator. Our client is a US-based healthcare organization that coordinates genetic testing services for patients across the country. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact between the client and patients, reaching out by phone after a physician has ordered genetic testing, guiding patients through the consent process with clarity and care, and ensuring all records are accurately maintained in the client's portal.

This is a fully remote, phone-based position requiring a high level of professionalism, patience, and attention to detail. You will work standard US Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours and must be comfortable managing sensitive patient conversations with empathy and discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contact patients by phone following a physician's referral for genetic testing to explain the consent process and address any questions
  • Obtain verbal or documented patient consent in accordance with the client's established protocols
  • Conduct follow-up calls with patients who were unreachable or require additional information before consenting
  • Accurately log all patient interactions, consent status updates, and follow-up notes into the client's online portal
  • Maintain organized records and flag any incomplete or outstanding consent cases for timely resolution
  • Communicate professionally with patients of varying backgrounds, adapting tone and language to ensure clarity and comfort
  • Adhere to patient confidentiality standards and handle all sensitive information with discretion

Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) as a minimum qualification; a National Diploma or relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field is advantageous
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a patient-facing, customer service, or administrative role
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills, with a clear and professional telephone manner
  • Reliable, high-speed internet connection and a quiet, dedicated home workspace suitable for confidential patient calls
  • Ability to work US Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours on a consistent basis
  • Computer literacy with the ability to navigate online portals and CRM or case management systems accurately

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in a healthcare, medical administration, or clinical support environment
  • Experience conducting outbound calls in a structured or scripted environment, such as a call center or patient coordination role
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly relating to diagnostics or laboratory services
  • Experience handling sensitive or confidential information in a regulated or compliance-aware setting

Key Competencies

* Strong communication skills

* High attention to detail

* Strong organizational skills

* Ability to work independently

* Professionalism and reliability
