About The Role The Mobile Quality Assurance Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of Iron Sheepdog’s mobile and web applications. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks, validating backend logic, and supporting the entire software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will focus on expanding automated test coverage for our React Native mobile app and enhancing end-to-end (E2E) testing across our CI pipelines. Working closely with engineers and product teams, the Mobile QA Engineer will champion a white-glove standard of quality, reducing defects and improving the user experience for our platform’s diverse user base. Qualifications 2+ years of professional software testing or quality assurance experience. Experience testing mobile applications built with React Native. Proficiency with automated testing frameworks, specifically Cypress for E2E testing and Jest for unit testing. Hands-on experience with Playwright or similar mobile/cross-platform automation tools such as Detox or Appium. Experience testing modern web applications built with React 18 and Next.js 14. Familiarity with testing Node.js backends and NoSQL databases, particularly Google Cloud Firestore. Experience using Git version control and code-quality tools like ESLint and Prettier. Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proven track record of working effectively in remote teams. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Expo, mobile CI/CD pipelines using EAS Build and EAS Submit, understanding of data warehousing and Google BigQuery, experience testing third-party API integrations (e.g., Twilio, SendGrid, Samsara), and interest or experience in testing AI and machine learning applications.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and expand end-to-end testing coverage using Cypress across multiple CI suites. Contribute to the creation and enhancement of a mobile automation framework using Playwright or comparable tools to ensure scalable automated test coverage for the React Native app. Write unit tests with Jest to uphold code quality across components and utilities. Validate backend logic, Cloud Functions (Node.js), and Firestore security rules using the Firebase Emulator Suite. Collaborate with engineering teams to test and validate AI-powered features such as Google Vision AI and Document AI. Manage test execution and integration within Bitbucket CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth operations. Utilize a library of Chrome automation scripts to support environment setup and maintenance. Leverage session replay and heatmap tools like Smartlook to diagnose UX issues, reproduce bugs, and enhance overall application quality. Partner with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle to uphold the highest standards of quality for every release.
