The role focuses on building and shipping production systems across distributed architecture and financial payment flows, designing complex backend systems, and supporting cloud-native engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Experience designing and owning complex backend systems end to end, from HLD through production verification
• Strong documentation habits: runbooks, testing guides, and knowledge sharing come naturally

Skills

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Java expertise
• Direct payments industry experience, with deep understanding of financial payment flows and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture, plus Docker and containerized application development
• Experience designing and owning complex backend systems end to end, from HLD through production verification
• Experience with MySQL, Oracle, or similar relational databases at scale
• Proficiency with AI tools like Claude as part of everyday engineering workflow, and picking up new domains and context quickly
• Strong documentation habits: runbooks, testing guides, and knowledge sharing come naturally
• Location: Remote, US based only
• Candidate need to be on our W2
• Familiarity with risk, fraud, or compliance systems
• Experience with Elixir or working in a multi-language environment
