Open role
[Remote] Data Scientist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Curate Partners is seeking a hands-on Data Scientist to support data-driven initiatives in a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) environment. The role focuses on translating business questions into analytical and technical solutions, independently owning work from problem definition through delivery, and supporting machine learning and LLM-based solutions as project needs evolve.
Responsibilities
- Translate business problems and high-level requirements into appropriate analytical, data, and technical solutions
- Independently own assigned work from initial problem definition through analysis, implementation, validation, and delivery
- Use SQL and Python to analyze, manipulate, and interpret large and complex datasets
- Work effectively with incomplete, messy, or imperfect data and determine practical approaches for moving analysis forward
- Evaluate analytical and machine learning approaches based on the problem being solved rather than simply applying predefined techniques
- Clearly explain the reasoning behind technical decisions, including why a particular model, methodology, or analytical approach was selected
- Proactively identify gaps or ambiguities in requirements and ask appropriate questions early in the process
- Surface risks, data issues, dependencies, and potential delays before they impact delivery
- Provide thoughtful recommendations and alternative approaches when a different solution may better address the underlying business objective
- Take ownership of deliverables and communicate progress, issues, findings, and recommendations throughout execution
- Collaborate with business and technical team members to understand broader project objectives and ensure analysis supports those objectives
- Contribute ideas and constructive challenge rather than functioning solely as an execution resource
- Support work involving machine learning and LLM-based solutions as project needs evolve
Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL, including querying and analyzing large or complex datasets
- Strong hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, processing, and analytical development
- Experience solving analytical or technical problems where the path to the solution was not completely defined
- Strong understanding of data analysis and problem-solving methodologies
- Experience applying machine learning techniques to real-world business or data problems
- Ability to explain why a particular model or analytical approach was selected, how it works at a practical level, and when an alternative approach may be more appropriate
- Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership of assignments and drive them through completion
- Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to connect individual requests or analyses to broader business objectives
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to proactively ask questions, clarify requirements, identify risks, and communicate issues early
- Ability to work effectively in environments where data may be complex, incomplete, or imperfect
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to investigate problems beyond the immediate task or instruction
- Previous experience within a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) environment
- Familiarity with PBM, pharmacy, healthcare, or related data
- Experience working with large-scale healthcare datasets
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and related use cases
- Familiarity with agentic AI solutions or architectures
- Experience evaluating multiple machine learning approaches and determining the most appropriate solution based on the underlying problem
