Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. iShift is recruiting for an unnamed US-based client seeking an engineer to support a large-scale migration from VMware vSphere to Microsoft Hyper-V. The role focuses on migrating and validating virtual machines, improving migration performance, minimizing downtime, and coordinating production cutovers.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware vSphere and Veeam Backup & Replication configurations
• Troubleshoot migration bottlenecks and improve VM migration performance
• Migrate virtual machines from VMware ESXi/vSphere to Microsoft Hyper-V
• Configure and validate VM settings, virtual networking, storage, and connectivity
• Develop migration runbooks, checklists, and rollback procedures
• Execute migration waves, including large and complex virtual machines
• Perform post-migration validation and troubleshoot boot, driver, and network issues
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams during scheduled maintenance windows
• Document migration progress and provide knowledge transfer to the client's technical team

Skills

• Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server Failover Clustering
• Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and VM migration methodologies
• Knowledge of virtual networking, storage, Fibre Channel, and SAN environments
• Experience with production migrations, troubleshooting, and downtime management
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Candidates should have hands-on experience executing enterprise infrastructure migrations
• Experience with Windows Admin Center VM Conversion, Pure Storage, and large-scale enterprise VM migrations
