TEAL Staffing’s client is seeking a Financial Controller to advise middle-market companies and strengthen their finance and accounting operations. The role leads client engagements involving M&A, accounting transformations, close improvements, financial reporting, and technical accounting, while mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• You will work with a variety of middle-market companies on projects involving M&A, accounting transformations, close improvements, financial reporting, and complex technical accounting issues
• Step into Controller-level situations and take ownership
• Lead opening balance sheet builds and cash-to-accrual conversions
• Improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial infrastructure
• Work directly with CEOs, CFOs, PE sponsors, and other senior executives
• Lead client engagements and mentor more junior team members
• Gain exposure to different industries, business models, and financial challenges
• Grow your advisory skill set and, over time, potentially progress into fractional CFO engagements and broader leadership opportunities

Skills

• Proven experience sitting in the Controller seat with full ownership of the accounting function/P&L
• Experience in a mid-market environment, ideally $50M–$300M in revenue
• Strong technical accounting background
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction
• Knowledge of percentage-of-completion, WIP, and cost accounting
• Experience building an opening balance sheet and/or leading a cash-to-accrual conversion
• Strong client presence and the ability to communicate with C-level executives
• CPA, consulting experience, PE-backed experience, and FP&A/modeling skills are valued but not required
