Open role
Remote JavaScript Developer
About the position Turing is hiring a Remote JavaScript Developer to work as a Software Engineering evaluator on projects that train, benchmark, and advance large language models. The role involves collaborating closely with researchers to curate code examples, provide precise solutions, and correct code across Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript, including ReactJS. The work emphasizes systems-level code, performance-critical applications, and infrastructure. The evaluator will assess and refine AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve enterprise AI-driven coding solutions. Responsibilities also include building agents to verify systems-level and infrastructure code, evaluating model capabilities across stages of the software engineering lifecycle, and designing mechanisms for automatically verifying software engineering task solutions. This is a flexible contractor engagement for candidates based in the United States, requiring at least 10 hours per week and allowing up to 40 hours per week. The initial duration is one month, with potential extensions based on performance and fit. The contractor position does not include medical benefits or paid leave. The application process takes 15–30 minutes and requires completion of an AI video interview.
Responsibilities
- Curate code examples, develop solutions, and correct code in Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript, including ReactJS, for AI model training initiatives.
- Evaluate and refine AI-generated code for systems-level correctness, performance, efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
- Build agents that verify the quality of systems-level and infrastructure code and identify error patterns.
- Hypothesize about and evaluate model capabilities across software engineering stages, including prototyping, architecture and API design, production implementation, launch, experiments, monitoring, and operational maintenance.
- Design verification mechanisms that can automatically validate solutions to software engineering tasks.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in systems programming, infrastructure, or backend development using languages such as JavaScript, Python, C/C++, Rust, and Go.
- Experience building and deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality and review assessment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for providing clear, structured evaluation rationales.
- Must be based in the United States.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working at the frontier of AI, including at organizations such as OpenAI, NVIDIA, Databricks, Palantir, or Snowflake, or similar organizations.
- Graduation from a leading program such as Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Yale, or the University of Pennsylvania, or a comparable institution; exceptional experience and skill take precedence over pedigree.
