Open role
[Remote] Lead Data Engineering
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mphasis is hiring a Lead Data Engineering professional to build Snowflake Cortex semantic and agent capabilities for governed Finance AI use cases. The role develops Talk-to-Data experiences, integrates agents with approved data and semantic models, and improves response quality, security, and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Build and configure Snowflake Cortex Skills, Cortex Agents, reusable agent tools and skill packages for prioritised Finance use cases
- Implement governed Talk-to-Data and conversational analytics capabilities over approved Snowflake data and semantic models
- Develop agent workflows, prompts, context handling and tool-invocation patterns that support accurate, traceable business responses
- Integrate agents with semantic models, verified queries, metadata, business definitions, APIs and approved enterprise services
- Design and maintain Snowflake Cortex semantic models covering governed business entities, relationships, dimensions, measures, metrics, verified queries and Finance terminology
- Build an AI-ready data foundation using trusted data products, metadata, lineage, quality controls, entitlements, business context and reusable semantic definitions
- Use the COCO SDK to connect agents and AI applications with approved enterprise context, semantic assets, tools and services
- Implement model-based analytics that uses governed semantic definitions and reusable calculation models to provide consistent analytical outcomes
- Define secure agent-integration patterns across Cortex, enterprise APIs, governed tools and downstream analytical experiences
- Capture common Finance questions and query patterns, analyse response gaps and refine agent behaviour and semantic coverage
- Create and maintain golden question-and-answer datasets, automated evaluations and regression tests for skills, agents and prompts
- Implement confidence scoring, abstention behaviour, grounding checks and user-feedback mechanisms
- Develop Python and SQL components, REST integrations and reusable services required by agent capabilities
- Monitor response quality, latency, usage, failures and drift, and support diagnosis and recovery of production issues
- Apply security, entitlement, data-protection, auditability, prompt-injection and responsible-AI controls defined by architecture and governance teams
- Participate in design and code reviews, sprint delivery, testing, release activities, documentation and knowledge transfer
- Collaborate with Finance SMEs, Snowflake engineers, semantic architects, AI architects, testers and user-experience teams
Skills
- 8-12 years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, semantic modelling or enterprise application development
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL and the development of data-driven applications or analytical solutions
- Mandatory hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex semantic models, including business entities, relationships, dimensions, measures, metrics, verified queries and semantic grounding
- Mandatory working knowledge of the COCO SDK, including its use for enterprise context, semantic assets or agent integration
- Experience building AI-ready data foundations with governed, discoverable and context-rich data products for agentic and analytical use cases
- Experience implementing model-based analytics using reusable semantic definitions, governed measures and calculation models
- Hands-on experience integrating AI agents with semantic models, enterprise data, APIs, tools and services using secure and observable patterns
- Experience developing in Python and integrating REST APIs, JSON-based services and enterprise systems
- Experience testing AI or data solutions using repeatable datasets, expected results and automated quality checks
- Strong troubleshooting, code-quality, documentation and Agile delivery skills
- SnowPro Core or another relevant Snowflake certification
- Demonstrable knowledge of the COCO SDK and its application to context or agent integration
- Hands-on experience designing or implementing Snowflake Cortex semantic models
- Candidates without exposure to both COCO SDK and Cortex semantic modelling should not be shortlisted
- Prior experience in Finance, banking, capital markets, wealth management or regulated reporting
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline
- Experience with enterprise chat, business-intelligence or conversational analytics integrations
- Deep experience with semantic modelling, metadata platforms, governed data products and model-based analytics
- Experience delivering AI capabilities within a regulated enterprise environment
