Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. DSJ Global is recruiting for a reputable packaging company seeking a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer II. The role leads capital projects and equipment installations at manufacturing sites, from project planning through startup, while supporting process improvements and on-site troubleshooting across the Eastern U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital projects ranging from several hundred thousand dollars to $2M+, managing scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and project execution from concept through startup
• Oversee equipment installations, upgrades, and manufacturing process improvements focused on productivity, reliability, safety, and cost reduction
• Develop technical specifications, procurement documentation, and project requirements to support major capital equipment investments
• Partner with plant leadership, maintenance teams, vendors, and contractors to drive project success, troubleshoot equipment issues, and implement sustainable solutions
• Travel extensively (up to 50%) to manufacturing facilities, leading on-site projects, safety initiatives, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement efforts with minimal supervision

Skills

• 4-7 years of capital project engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
• Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering background
• Experience leading projects from concept through completion, including new equipment installations, machine rebuilds, process upgrades, automation projects, and manufacturing line installations
• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, project management, budgeting, and CAPEX execution
• Advanced degree is a plus
