Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. KCI, LLC is hiring a mid-level Network Deployment Engineer to build, change, and evolve its optical and IP network. The role deploys and decommissions network elements, plans and executes migrations, investigates existing configurations, and supports Ciena and Juniper platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, add, and decommission optical and IP network elements
• Plan and execute network migrations, including cloud-based migrations
• Research and investigate existing network configurations, circuits, and equipment to uncover undocumented details and potential risks before changes are made
• Configure and support Ciena 6500 optical platforms
• Configure and support Juniper MX routing platforms, including routing and switching
• Work across multi-vendor environments with different equipment at different sites
• Take part in scheduled maintenance windows, which make up about 20% of the role and happen outside normal business hours
• Share what you learn with teammates, including discoveries and better ways of working that nobody asked you to find

Skills

• Mid-level experience in network deployment, engineering, or operations
• Hands-on experience with optical transport, ideally the Ciena 6500
• Hands-on experience with Juniper MX platforms and Junos routing and switching
• Solid understanding of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS
• Experience with network migrations, including cloud-based migrations
• Strong research and troubleshooting skills, and comfort working through incomplete information
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset
• Availability for after-hours maintenance windows
• Experience at an ISP or service provider
• Enterprise backgrounds are also welcome if you've handled cloud-based migrations
• Multi-vendor experience across optical and IP platforms
• Relevant certifications, such as JNCIA/JNCIS or Ciena certifications
