Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. GameChanger is a remote-first technology company focused on helping families experience and engage with youth sports. The Senior Backend Software Engineer will own and evolve the Subscriptions and Payments platforms, developing scalable systems and APIs, integrating with payment providers, and enabling subscription growth. The role involves architectural leadership, cross-functional collaboration, reliability improvements, documentation, code reviews, and occasional on-call participation.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the evolution of our Subscriptions and Payments platforms, building the foundational systems and APIs that other teams use to deliver customer-facing experiences
• Lead and collaborate on new feature development that supports subscription growth, monetization opportunities, and business expansion
• Make thoughtful architectural decisions, lead technical discussions, and provide feedback on designs across the team
• Improve existing systems' reliability, observability, scalability, and maintainability
• Build and maintain technical documentation to improve system understanding and team effectiveness
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering teams to define scope, discuss tradeoffs, and deliver impactful solutions
• Provide thoughtful code reviews that improve code quality, maintain engineering standards, and share knowledge across the team
• Participate in an occasional on-call rotation with the team

Skills

• 6+ years in a software development role
• 4+ years experience with Node.js or another backend technology
• 1+ years experience leading and implementing complex designs
• Experience with TypeScript is preferred
• Experience with a system deployed in an AWS environment is preferred
