Strategic Employment is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to modernize the data systems supporting digital products for a consumer media and technology company. The role focuses on developing back-end APIs, microservices, real-time data solutions, and event-driven systems while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and setting standards for pipeline design, testing, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• You'll build and back-end APIs and microservices, partner with product, analytics, and engineering stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into reliable systems, and help set the technical bar for pipeline design, testing, and monitoring

Skills

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years building data solutions, including real-time streaming and event-driven systems
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
• Experience with tools like Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, or BigQuery
• Solid grasp of data modeling fundamentals, including dimensional modeling and warehouse design
• Comfort working in Agile/Scrum teams and owning technical decisions with minimal oversight
• Data governance/lineage experience
• Exposure to ML workflows
• Prior technical leadership
