Posit builds software for data science, including Posit Team, an on-premises platform for exploring data and deploying applications and agents. The Senior Software Engineer will build and deliver new product capabilities at the intersection of data science, infrastructure, and AI.

Responsibilities

• You will help us build new capabilities and features in our product suite, including things we haven’t yet imagined possible, and you will drive those changes forward into our customers’ hands
• Ship code changes that meaningfully improves the experience for our customers
• See your changes reflected in our public releases
• Participate in feature planning and provide feedback
• Feel comfortable navigating the codebase and understand how things fit together
• Plan features and drive their development
• Have a track record of teaching team members; both from your expertise and things you learn as you build
• Have a track record of learning: both from the things you learned and taught us along the way; and from listening to internal users, external users, and how our customers use our products
• Point to new features you built that we hadn’t even dreamed were possible

Skills

• You are an enthusiastic generalist who thrives in the face of ambiguous requirements—an engineer who is just as good at starting things as you are at finishing them
• Proficiency in either Go or Typescript as well as in either Python or R
• Experience with backend systems, data tooling, and data science frameworks
• Eagerness and boldness to learn
• You make judgment calls on behalf of users with minimal up front guidance and are willing to be wrong, because you will learn
• You are interested not just in using AI in your work, but building tools for customers to use AI in their own work
• You also are curious, and you question when AI is not the right answer for a particular problem
• You are focused on delivering measurable value to customers
• You have a strong technical background with a track record of shipping successful products
• Prior domain expertise with data science as a practice
