Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. KP Recruiting Group is recruiting for a client seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build a modern internal tools platform. The role focuses on backend services, APIs, data modeling, and platform architecture while consolidating legacy applications and collaborating with product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend services, APIs, and microservices for a modern internal tools platform
• Help consolidate legacy applications into a unified, high-performance system
• Design RESTful APIs and scalable architectures that support evolving business needs and AI-driven use cases
• Develop and optimize relational database schemas, queries, and data models
• Partner with product managers and engineers across multiple business teams to deliver impactful solutions
• Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, refactoring, and debugging while maintaining high engineering standards
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, testing practices, and technical innovation

Skills

• 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience — required
• Solid experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query optimization
• Experience building distributed systems, microservices, and scalable backend architectures
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically and take ownership of code quality, security, and reliability
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and systems
• Experience with Python, Node.js, Go, NoSQL databases, BigQuery, or LLM integrations is a plus
• Computer Science or related degree preferred, but not required
