Piper Companies is seeking a Software Engineer - Distributed Systems & Networking to join a technology organization focused on network simulation, automation, and infrastructure platforms. The role builds and scales backend services using Go and Python, develops APIs and microservices, enhances CI/CD automation, and supports distributed systems, networking, observability, and platform scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain distributed backend services using Go and Python
• Develop scalable platform capabilities that support high availability, low latency, and large-scale workloads
• Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve software delivery, testing, and deployment automation
• Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and platform integrations for networking and infrastructure solutions
• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize telemetry, observability, and performance monitoring capabilities
• Troubleshoot and improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
• Contribute to architecture discussions focused on distributed computing, service orchestration, and network-aware applications
• Support development efforts involving enterprise networking concepts, routing, switching, and TCP/IP technologies

Skills

• 4+ years of software engineering experience in backend or platform development
• Strong experience developing applications in Go (Golang)
• Proficiency with Python for automation, tooling, or backend services
• Experience designing, building, and supporting distributed systems platforms
• Understanding of networking fundamentals equivalent to CCNA-level knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes
• Knowledge of scalability, latency optimization, observability, telemetry, and performance engineering best practices
• Experience working within Linux-based environments
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, or Kubernetes
