The Engineering Manager will lead a 15-person core engineering team responsible for the policy and case management platform, while overseeing architecture, communication across stakeholders, and the team’s transition toward more mature processes.

Responsibilities

• Leading a 15-person core engineering team responsible for the policy and case management platform, owning the full policy lifecycle and the product itself
• Reviewing architecture and design decisions, and diving into the code when needed
• Acting as the primary point of communication between engineering, business users, agents, and leadership, translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders daily
• Helping guide the team through a transition from fast, startup-style feature velocity toward more mature process, without adding unnecessary bureaucracy
• Operating in a fully remote, fast-paced environment

Skills

• Proven people management experience. This isn't a first or second-time manager role
• Strong communication skills. This is treated as the top technical skill given the amount of daily interaction with business and leadership
• Enough technical depth to review architecture and code and ask the right questions, even without writing code day-to-day
• Comfort working in an object-oriented language (ideally Kotlin, but object oriented languages will be considered)
• Experience in both startup and larger corporate environments, and an understanding of how each operates
• Adaptability. Comfortable absorbing existing process and team culture before pushing for change
• Ability to work East Coast hours (remote, no location requirement otherwise)
• Prior insurance, annuities, or financial services experience strongly preferred
