The role involves providing technical direction, mentoring engineers, and managing the development of secure, scalable services.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Java engineers
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, design, development, and delivery
• Design and support scalable, secure distributed systems and microservices
• Establish best practices for code quality, testing, security, CI/CD, and DevOps
• Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Security teams to deliver reliable releases
• Support production systems, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, monitoring, and performance optimization
• Drive Agile delivery, engineering improvements, and adoption of effective tools and technologies
• Contribute to hiring, performance management, and career development

Skills

• 7+ years of Java development experience, including strong Spring/Spring Boot expertise
• 2+ years of technical leadership or engineering management experience
• Strong knowledge of Java, OOP, concurrency, distributed systems, and microservices
• Hands-on AWS and cloud-native development experience
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automation, and observability
• Experience operating production systems and improving reliability and performance
• Experience working in secure, regulated, or restricted environments
• Experience with Kafka or similar event-driven technologies
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Oracle, Redis, and modern engineering/monitoring tools
• Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills
• Experience with automated unit, integration, and component testing
• FedRAMP experience is highly desirable
