Open role
[Remote] Staff Engineer - Continuum
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Continuous is hiring a Staff Engineer for its Continuum intelligent automation platform. The role provides hands-on technical leadership by solving complex platform problems, building reusable frameworks and patterns, applying AI in engineering, partnering on architecture, strengthening engineering rigor and security, and mentoring the team.
Responsibilities
- You'll drive Continuum's most complex, highest-value work and serve as the escalation point for its hardest problems. When work depends on or affects peripheral teams, you'll reach out and coordinate, but your focus and impact live with Continuum
- You'll design and build the frameworks, patterns, and reference implementations the team adopts and builds on, across a stack of TypeScript, C# (.NET), micro frontends, and microservices running on AWS (ECS, Postgres, SQS, S3)
- You'll use cutting-edge AI programs, patterns, and applications in your daily engineering, track emerging AI and platform technologies, and bring the most valuable ones into practice across the team
- You'll partner with Architects and the Chief Architect to turn architectural direction into working, extensible reality within Continuum
- You'll set the standard for code quality, testing, and engineering rigor, and keep the team's best patterns documented and reusable
- You'll support Continuous' SOC 2 security program in everything you design and build
- Day to day, you'll work alongside Continuum's Technical Leads, individual contributors, Architects, and the Chief Architect, plus peripheral teams as the work requires
- Learn Continuum's architecture, codebase, and AI patterns end to end
- Get productive across the stack and ship your first meaningful contributions
- Build working relationships with the Engineering Manager, Technical Leads, Architects, the Chief Architect, and the engineers you'll work alongside
- Form your own view of where the platform and the team's practices have the most room to grow
- Own a piece of Continuum's most complex work from design through production
- Raise the first gaps you've identified, propose improvements, and organize action with current technical leadership
- Introduce new AI tools, research, or patterns into the team's daily engineering without waiting to be asked
- Publish your first reusable framework, pattern, or reference implementation
- Be recognized as the escalation point for Continuum's hardest hands-on problems
- Have frameworks and patterns you built in active use across the team
- Show visible lift in the team's applied-AI capability and engineering rigor
- Run a repeatable loop of spotting gaps, raising them, and driving improvements with Technical Leads and ICs
Skills
- Exceptional hands-on mastery and the ability to learn new technologies fast
- Breadth and judgment matter more than any single language, and your work is production-grade, not prototype
- You don't wait for permission to explore
- Curiosity about AI research and emerging patterns comes naturally, and you turn what you learn into working practice
- You build extensible things other engineers rely on, and you spot patterns across systems others treat as unrelated
- You see gaps, name them clearly, and rally Technical Leads and ICs around fixing them
- You lead by expertise, trust, and example
- You own hard outcomes end to end, including ambiguous, novel AI problems, and de-risk them through direct implementation and rigorous validation
- You grow the engineers around you, sharing knowledge generously and lifting the team's craft by example
- You're a clear, persuasive communicator who can explain technical direction to engineers, architects, and peripheral teams alike
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Benefits
- 100% company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance (including family coverage)
- HSA contributions of $1,800 per year
- 401K and matching of 100% for first 3% and 50-100 for next 4%, fully vested after 1 year
- Flexible PTO and 11 paid holidays, plus a Quarterly Wellness Day
- $2,500 annual professional development stipend
- $100/month phone and internet reimbursement
- Complete remote setup — Mac or Dell laptop, 2 monitors, and a one-time $250 gear stipend
- Fully remote work environment across the contiguous U.S.
