[Remote] Staff Full Stack Software Engineer

Remote · Finland Full-time

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Svitla Systems is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to help build and shape a cloud-based platform for digital forensics, case management, evidence storage, and collaboration. The role sets technical direction across teams while contributing hands-on across the stack, mentoring engineers, and guiding AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead for our team: set technical direction, plan delivery and unblock engineers
  • Analyze requirements, break down cross-team initiatives, and provide effort estimates and sequencing
  • Own the end-to-end architecture of robust, performant and secure solutions, from React front-ends to C#/.NET services, distributed message-driven systems and AWS infrastructure
  • Develop efficient, modular, and maintainable software across the front-end and back-end
  • Lead technical design through design docs, RFCs and architecture decision records
  • Raise the bar in code reviews and mentor senior and intermediate engineers
  • Lead investigations into the hardest defects and production issues across the stack
  • Drive performance and security engineering, including performance testing and vulnerability scanning in CI/CD
  • Guide best practices for building, delivering and maintaining multiple source code projects in Azure DevOps and on Kubernetes
  • Champion AI-assisted development with tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, and help teams adopt it effectively
  • Understand the intent of the product and the needs of forensic investigators, and use that knowledge to make product design and architecture decisions
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and build alignment across teams

Skills

  • NOTE: Candidates must reside in Canada or USA
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, most of it in full-stack roles spanning both front-end and back-end systems
  • Current or recent technical leadership as a Tech Lead, Staff engineer, or owner of a production system's core architecture, with a record of mentoring engineers
  • Post-secondary education in software engineering, computer or electrical engineering, computer science, math, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience building distributed systems and microservices for cloud-native SaaS products at scale
  • Deep expertise in C#/.NET server-side development (APIs, services, data access, performance tuning)
  • Proficiency with React and modern front-end web development (component design, state management, responsive UI)
  • Production experience with AWS
  • Working experience with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes and Linux environments
  • Active, everyday use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor as part of your development workflow
  • Experience defining testing strategy and writing automated tests at various levels of abstraction
  • A track record of measurable impact on performance, reliability or security
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and collaborate in a team environment
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting in a fast-changing environment
  • Python or other programming languages
  • Shell scripting
  • Distributed data stores such as Elasticsearch, Redis, or PostgreSQL JSONB, and search/indexing systems
  • Observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
  • Infrastructure-as-code (e.g. CDK) and container-based deployment pipelines
  • Distributed, message-driven systems and real-time features (e.g. WebSockets)
  • Building integration platforms or partner APIs (REST, GraphQL)
  • AI technologies in products, such as natural language search and agentic workflows
  • Experience in security-conscious or highly regulated environments, including handling sensitive data

Benefits
