[Remote] Substation Project Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Insight Global is recruiting a Mid-level/Senior Project Manager for an unnamed utility infrastructure client. The role owns EPC execution of high-voltage AIS and GIS substation projects from initiation through closeout, leading cross-functional teams and managing client relationships, budgets, schedules, and forecasting.
Responsibilities
- Lead AIS/GIS EPC substation projects from kickoff through closeout
- Manage budgets, schedules, forecasts, and resource allocation
- Serve as primary client contact
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
- Drive project accountability and decision-making
- Monitor project profitability and financial performance
- Identify and mitigate project risks
- Provide executive project reporting and stakeholder updates
- Ensure compliance with safety and EPC standards
- Manage multiple concurrent substation projects
Skills
- 5-10+ years of Project Management experience (5+ for Mid-Level and 8-10 for Senior)
- Direct ownership of high-voltage substation construction projects
- AIS and/or GIS substation project experience
- EPC project delivery experience
- Experience with transmission infrastructure and substations under 500kV
- Strong forecasting, budgeting, financial management, and resource planning experience
- Direct decision-making authority on projects (not heavily layered within organizations)
- Strong client-facing communication and executive stakeholder management skills
- Strong English verbal and written communication
- Experience managing engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
- Ability to discuss fundamentals of Protection & Control systems
- Ability to speak to market volatility and supply chain impacts for substation equipment
- PMP Certification
- Electrical Engineering degree
- Utility industry experience
- Experience with ACCC/ASCR conductor cable projects
- Utility transmission and distribution project background
- Startup or high-growth environment experience
- References from industry leaders including Auj, Rostin, Krill, Jerry Clarke, James Saunders, Adolfo, Dan, or Antonio
