Open role
[Remote] Tier 2 Network Engineer (U.S.)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CRB Workforce is recruiting for an unnamed enterprise client seeking a Tier 2 Network Engineer. The role owns complex network escalations, troubleshoots and resolves issues across enterprise network environments, and works directly with client IT staff while supporting new environment onboarding and team process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of Tier 2 escalations covering Cisco routing, switching, wireless, security, firewalls, and SD-WAN environments, and drive complex issues through to root cause
- Investigate and remediate tricky performance, connectivity, authentication, and uptime problems across the entire network rather than a single platform
- Serve as a dependable escalation resource, independently working through unfamiliar issues and thoroughly documenting your findings, steps taken, and resolutions
- Engage directly with a large enterprise client's IT staff on incidents, troubleshooting progress, status reports, and resolution activities while building trust with stakeholders
- Assist with bringing new environments online, including setting up documentation and monitoring, and flag optimization opportunities, recurring problems, and potential risks
- Collaborate with the Service Desk, Tier 3 Engineers, and broader infrastructure teams, help mentor junior staff, and contribute to SOPs and process improvements
Skills
- A minimum of three years of practical network engineering or support work within intricate enterprise settings, ideally gained through an MSP, VAR, SI, or a comparable consulting or client-facing background
- Solid, hands-on expertise with Cisco routing and switching technologies
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve challenges spanning routing, switching, and complicated connectivity scenarios
- A firm grasp of core networking concepts such as BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, trunking, VPNs, ACLs, and TCP/IP
- Working knowledge across wider network domains including wireless and network security, along with familiarity with some mix of Cisco FMC/FTD/Firepower, Cisco SD-WAN/SD-Access, and Palo Alto/Panorama/Prisma
- Fluency in English with the capability to clearly convey technical concepts to audiences that are both technical and non-technical
Benefits
- Remote work
- An additional $20,000 annual stipend for second-shift hours (4pm - 12am MST)
