Senior iOS Engineer (Swift/SwiftUI) - Portugal Full Remote

Remote · Colombia Full-time

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a fast-growing EdTech startup helping more than 1.5 million students worldwide learn better and stay motivated through an AI-powered education platform. With tens of thousands of new students joining every week and recent seed funding, the team is expanding its mobile experience.

As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will take hands-on ownership of the iOS app, work directly with the founders and help shape a product used by students every day. This opportunity suits someone who enjoys autonomy, meaningful technical challenges and the pace of a small startup.

The role is fully remote within Europe. Being based in Portugal, particularly Lisbon, is a plus.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

Own the iOS app across architecture, performance, releases and technical roadmap. Collaborate closely with engineering and product leadership to improve onboarding, engagement and retention.

Build polished native experiences with smooth animations, responsive interactions and platform-specific conventions. Support and mentor the two engineers already contributing to mobile, sharing knowledge and improving engineering practices.

Work in a product-led growth environment, shipping features, instrumenting user journeys, measuring results and iterating through A/B testing. Take responsibility for App Store deployment, release cadence, versioning, store optimization and crash monitoring.

The wider platform includes Node.js, React, React Native, Next.js, NestJS, Expo, Prisma, Tailwind CSS and AWS. Specific technology versions and supported iOS versions are to be confirmed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • At least 5 years of experience in native iOS development.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift and practical experience with SwiftUI and UIKit.
  • Proven experience building and shipping consumer-grade iOS applications.
  • Familiarity with Combine, push notifications and App Store deployment.
  • Experience with Xcode, XCTest, TestFlight and App Store Connect.
  • Strong understanding of common iOS architecture and state management patterns.
  • Experience debugging applications, optimizing performance and monitoring crashes.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and mentoring other engineers.
  • A strong startup mindset: hands-on, autonomous, pragmatic and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Ability to identify problems, propose solutions and take ownership without waiting for fully defined requirements.
  • Proactive communication and confidence collaborating directly with product and engineering stakeholders.
  • English at C1 level or above, required for daily communication and collaboration.
  • Based in Europe.

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • EdTech experience, particularly products supporting students, learning or study habits.
  • Previous experience in an early-stage startup or a fast-growing consumer platform.
  • Experience with product-led growth, A/B testing, onboarding and retention.
  • Objective-C experience.
  • Android development experience with Kotlin.
  • Familiarity with React Native, Expo or other technologies in the wider platform.
  • Based in Portugal, particularly Lisbon, for closer collaboration with the founders and local team. No mandatory office attendance has been specified.

Compensation: €2,400 – €3,150/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
