Why This Role Is a Game‑Changer

As a Senior Medical Coding Associate on our Customer Insights team, you will be the bridge between raw clinical data and actionable strategy. You’ll translate complex coding patterns into insights that drive product enhancements, improve documentation practices, and ultimately protect revenue streams for our clients. Your work will influence the next generation of coding tools, shape industry best practices, and elevate the standard of care across the healthcare continuum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation & Audit Analysis: Conduct deep dives into provider documentation, audit reports, and coding trends to pinpoint gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Customer Configuration Assessment: Evaluate client system setups, data flows, and practice workflows to uncover discrepancies that could affect coding accuracy or revenue capture.
  • Process Improvement Champion: Leverage Lean Six Sigma, Agile, and other operational frameworks to design scalable, automated solutions that reduce manual effort and enhance precision.
  • Solution Design & Implementation: Craft user‑friendly workflows that prioritize automation, error prevention, and product enhancements over manual processes.
  • Project Leadership: Own multiple complex initiatives from conception to delivery, setting clear priorities, managing timelines, and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Develop concise, on‑brand presentations and reports tailored for internal leadership, technical teams, and external customers.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Coach new hires and peers across the Service Integrity organization, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Continuous Value Expansion: Identify and propose additional services or enhancements that deepen client relationships and increase revenue potential.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AAPC or AHIMA.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ hands‑on experience in medical coding, with a proven track record of high accuracy and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and presenting complex findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for data‑driven decision making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote) and familiarity with SQL for data extraction.
  • Experience with computer‑assisted coding (CAC) or coding automation tools is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or other process improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist – Inpatient (CCS‑I).
  • Prior experience in a customer‑facing role within a SaaS or health‑tech environment.
  • Background in clinical informatics or health‑information technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience mentoring junior coders or leading training workshops.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Clinical coding expertise across ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG systems.
  • Analytical thinking and problem‑solving with a focus on process optimization.
  • Project management, including scope definition, risk mitigation, and timeline tracking.
  • Stakeholder engagement and influence across multiple business units.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At brighthush, your professional development is a top priority. You’ll have access to:
