Role Overview

As a Senior Staff Full‑Stack Engineer – Customer Resiliency & Modernization Lead, you will be a pivotal technical leader who drives the vision, strategy, and execution of our customer‑centric resilience initiatives. You will collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders, mentor a high‑performing engineering squad, and architect robust, cloud‑native solutions that protect and enhance the customer experience across our global platform.

We’re looking for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced, distributed environment, and who can translate complex business challenges into elegant, scalable technology solutions. If you’re passionate about building resilient systems, mentoring talent, and shaping the future of cloud‑native architecture, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and Own Technical Vision: Craft the long‑term technical roadmap for customer resiliency, ensuring alignment with brighthush’s strategic objectives and industry best practices.
  • Architect Modern, Cloud‑Native Solutions: Lead the design and implementation of high‑availability, fault‑tolerant services across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, leveraging microservices, event‑driven patterns, and container orchestration.
  • Mentor and Coach Engineers: Provide hands‑on guidance, code reviews, and career development for a diverse team of senior and mid‑level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Drive Technical Excellence: Champion best practices in software design, testing, security, and performance, ensuring that all deliverables meet or exceed brighthush’s quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Product and Data Teams: Translate business requirements into technical specifications, working closely with product managers, data scientists, and UX designers to deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Champion Modernization Initiatives: Identify legacy components that can be refactored or replaced, leading migration efforts to cloud‑native architectures and eliminating technical debt.
  • Ensure Resilience and Reliability: Design and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes, and lead post‑mortem analyses to drive continuous improvement.
  • Influence Engineering Culture: Advocate for a culture of ownership, experimentation, and data‑driven decision making across the engineering organization.
  • Represent brighthush at External Events: Speak at conferences, meetups, and industry panels, positioning brighthush as a thought leader in customer resiliency and cloud architecture.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 9 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, high‑scale systems.
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and data architecture.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following languages: JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Java, Python, Rust, C#, Scala.
  • Deep experience designing and deploying microservices, event‑driven architectures, and containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Hands‑on expertise with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic) and incident management platforms (PagerDuty, Opsgenie).
  • Knowledge of security best practices, compliance frameworks, and data privacy regulations relevant to the finance and technology sectors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in banking, payments, or fintech.
  • Hands‑on experience with data streaming platforms (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis) and real‑time analytics.
  • Background in designing and operating highly available, globally distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Cloud Run).
  • Experience with machine learning pipelines or data science workflows.
  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Architect.
  • Published technical articles, open‑source contributions, or conference talks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Leadership: Ability to set a clear technical direction and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Strategic Thinking: Translate business objectives into actionable technology roadmaps.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle complex, ambiguous problems with analytical rigor and creative solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively across product, design, data, and operations teams.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment, quickly learning new technologies and processes.
  • Communication: Convey ideas clearly in written and verbal formats, tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
  • Mentorship: Coach engineers to grow their technical and professional capabilities.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Prioritize the end‑user experience in every decision.
