The company develops AI-first services that support tasks such as credentialing, onboarding, and the management of brokers, providers, members, and claims.

About the Role

LightSpun is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain features and services across its healthcare administration platform. You’ll contribute production code early on, working alongside experienced engineers who will support your development through design reviews, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen your backend engineering skills while gradually taking ownership of features from development through production support. You’ll collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teammates across the United States and the company’s Bengaluru engineering hub.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, and release well-defined features and services across the platform. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and learning from other engineers. Build toward end-to-end ownership of features and services. Monitor applications, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to incident follow-ups. Follow security and privacy standards when developing software for a regulated healthcare environment. Build with awareness of compliance requirements and frameworks, including HITRUST, SOC 2, and HIPAA. Collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teams across different time zones. Communicate progress, technical challenges, and blockers clearly in an asynchronous, remote-first environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. At least two years of professional software development experience, or strong internship or project experience demonstrating production impact. Proficiency in Python or a comparable backend programming language, with a willingness to work primarily in Python. Familiarity with web service fundamentals, including APIs, databases, testing, and version control. Clear written communication skills. Ability to learn, collaborate, and contribute effectively within a remote engineering team. Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Familiarity with Docker. Interest in AI-assisted development and agentic software systems. Experience or interest in healthcare technology or insurance software. Location & Work Arrangement Remote-first position based in the United States.
