Software Engineer - Python & AI/Agentic AI Location: Fully Remote (US) Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire | W2 Experience: 3+ Years About the Opportunity We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to join a major healthcare organization's growing technology team. This role combines strong Python backend engineering with emerging AI and agentic AI technologies to build scalable applications, automate business workflows, and solve complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, building solutions from the ground up, and applying AI technologies to real-world business problems.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, REST APIs, and microservices using Python. Write and optimize complex SQL queries and work with relational databases. Build and integrate AI/LLM-powered applications, including agentic AI workflows and automation. Develop scalable data pipelines and integrate cloud-based services. Implement business logic, tool-calling integrations, and reliable automation workflows. Troubleshoot technical challenges independently and take ownership of solutions from development through deployment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong hands-on Python development and SQL proficiency. Experience developing REST APIs, backend services, and microservices. Practical experience with AI/LLM integration, Generative AI, or agentic AI development. Strong debugging, system design, and independent problem-solving abilities. Experience working with cloud-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications

LangGraph, LangChain, RAG, AI agents, or LLM tool calling. GCP or Azure cloud experience. ETL pipelines, data engineering, or event-driven architecture.
