TrueGrid Steel focuses on practical coordination to minimize RFIs and keep projects moving efficiently, emphasizing clear communication from project start through erection.Role Description The Steel Detailer is a full-time remote role responsible for preparing accurate, fabrication-ready shop drawings and models for structural and miscellaneous steel components. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting architectural and structural drawings, developing detailed connections and assemblies, and coordinating with project managers, fabricators, and erectors to resolve design and field issues. The role involves reviewing design documents for completeness and constructability, identifying discrepancies, and proposing practical solutions to reduce RFIs. The Steel Detailer will maintain drawing standards, ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant codes, and support schedule and submittal workflows through clear documentation and communication.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong skills in Steel Detailing and Steel Structures. Candidates should possess skills in creating and interpreting Shop Drawings. Candidates should possess skills related to Rebar detailing and coordination. Candidates should possess skills in reading and understanding Architectural Drawings. Proficiency with industry-standard detailing software (e.g., Tekla, SDS/2, AutoCAD, or similar) is beneficial. Knowledge of relevant building codes, fabrication practices, and erection methods is preferred. Strong attention to detail, spatial visualization, and problem-solving abilities are required. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are essential. Prior experience in structural steel detailing or a related field, and technical education in engineering, drafting, or construction management, is advantageous.
