Telecom Implementation Engineer (SONET | DWDM | Ethernet) (100% Remote | Long-Term Contract) Overview: Optomi, in partnership with a leading telecommunications company, is seeking an Implementation Engineer II to support telecom network implementation and testing. In this role, you’ll test network devices, groom network equipment, carry out planned changes, and decommission legacy equipment. The work focuses on SONET, DWDM, and Ethernet platforms, including older unsupported equipment and some newer installations. Responsibilities: Test network devices and support implementation of network changes. Groom network equipment, including inserting or removing nodes to heal rings. Review proposed plans, identify technical or service-impact concerns, and raise issues before implementation. Decommission legacy equipment and process disconnect orders through internal systems. Work with the local team and peer groups to support implementation and testing activities. Qualifications: Experience testing telecom network devices. Ability to groom network equipment and carry out a presented plan. Sound judgment to identify when a proposed plan may not work and flag concerns before implementation. Familiarity with SONET, DWDM, and Ethernet equipment. Experience with legacy network platforms is a plus.
