Role Description The VP of Business Development is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading growth initiatives and strategic partnerships within the DMV CPG ecosystem. This leader will develop and execute business development plans, identify and cultivate relationships with emerging and established CPG brands, retailers, distributors, and investors, and build pipelines for sponsorships, collaborations, and revenue-generating opportunities. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and qualifying new partners, leading sales conversations, negotiating contracts and agreements, and managing key accounts to ensure mutual value and long-term engagement. The role will also collaborate closely with marketing and events teams to align business development goals with programming, community initiatives, and brand positioning. The VP of Business Development will track performance metrics, refine strategies based on market feedback, and represent CPG in the DMV at virtual and in-person industry events as a senior ambassador for the organization.

Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in New Business Development and Sales, including building pipelines, closing deals, and driving revenue growth. Strong skills in Business Planning and strategic growth planning, with the ability to develop and execute scalable partnership and expansion strategies. Proficiency in Contract Negotiation, with experience structuring mutually beneficial agreements with brands, retailers, distributors, and investors. Solid Account Management capabilities, including relationship stewardship, stakeholder communication, and retention of key partners. Extensive experience in the consumer packaged goods sector, ideally within Food, Beverage, Body, Beauty, or related categories. Proven track record in ecosystem or community-building, industry networking, or trade/association-style organizations is highly beneficial. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate value propositions clearly. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, prioritize multiple initiatives, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
