- Manage 12–24+ month lead times by securing production slots early and sequencing orders against construction milestones
- Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers, general contractors, and EPC firms to align equipment with design specifications
- Manage strategic relationships with MEP OEMs, including capacity reservations and volume agreements
- Coordinate factory witness testing, field commissioning, and startup support with vendors
- Model equipment spend against site capacity plans, tracking cost per MW and escalation trends
- Build contingency strategies for switchgear and transformer shortages through multi-vendor qualification and strategic inventory buffers
- Align equipment specifications with utility interconnection requirements, local code compliance, and permitting timelines
- Prioritize equipment supporting renewable integration, efficient PUE, and emissions reduction
- Negotiate extended warranties, spare parts inventories, and long-term service agreements for critical equipment
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in MEP or critical infrastructure procurement, ideally within data centers, power infrastructure, or large-scale capital equipment
- Established relationships with major MEP OEMs, including Caterpillar, Cummins, Vertiv, Schneider Electric, Eaton, Trane, Carrier, and ABB
- Deep understanding of redundancy tiers (N, N+1, 2N) and how equipment specifications map to design and engineering requirements
- Proven track record managing long-lead-time equipment, including generators, switchgear, and transformers, against aggressive construction schedules
- Experience with capex modeling, cost-per-MW tracking, and escalation forecasting across major equipment categories
- Comfort operating independently and owning procurement execution end-to-end without a supporting team
- Ability to manage generators, UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, and PDUs
- Experience coordinating factory witness testing (FAT), field commissioning (Cx), and startup support
- Knowledge of utility interconnection requirements, local code compliance, and permitting timelines
