Water Infrastructure Strategy Lead
Water Infrastructure Strategy Lead INFRA science & engineering | Fully remote (US) About the role INFRA science & engineering is hiring a water infrastructure strategy lead to support large-scale industrial clients (manufacturing, energy, data center/hyperscaler). As a subject matter expert, this role will develop alternative water supply and cooling strategies for industrial facilities, run the financial analysis and partnership structuring behind them, manage design consultants and utilities through due diligence, and support heat reuse and community water programs. INFRA team members are: comfortable working independently with limited oversight and making judgment calls on our own. We move quickly, learn fast, and adapt when priorities shift. We’re organized, communicate clearly, and can run meetings with technical, financial, and client stakeholders. Finally, we’re friendly, scholarship-minded, and collaborative individuals who take ownership and responsibility, both in our workplace and our everyday lives. What you’ll do Lead financial analysis for water infrastructure projects, including technoeconomic models, ROM cost and schedule estimates, and comparisons of capital and operating costs across supply options. Support deal structuring and due diligence for water supply agreements, project financing, and partnerships with utilities and other water providers. Evaluate non-potable and reclaimed water sources for industrial cooling and process use, and lead the technical analysis behind supply decisions. Develop early-stage designs and strategy for water reuse, treatment, and cooling systems, from feasibility through roughly half design. Manage engineering consultants and utility relationships across multiple concurrent projects, and transition completed designs to delivery teams. Help shape waste heat recovery projects that put excess heat from industrial facilities to productive use. Build business cases and funding frameworks for water stewardship and community investment programs. Required 7+ years in water or wastewater engineering or water resources planning, with direct experience in water reuse, brackish water, or alternative supply projects. Bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering. Experience leading feasibility studies and taking water or wastewater infrastructure through conceptual and design. Strong financial analysis skills: technoeconomic modeling, lifecycle cost comparisons, and evaluating capital and operating cost tradeoffs across supply options. Experience structuring or evaluating partnerships, such as utility agreements, public-private partnerships, or cost-sharing arrangements, and working alongside legal and finance teams to close them. Experience writing business cases and taking projects or programs through internal approval. Experience managing outside engineering consultants and working with municipal utilities. Working knowledge of water supply, rights, and permitting in arid or water-stressed regions of the US. Preferred MBA, or a finance or economics degree alongside an engineering background. PE license (or the ability to obtain one) Experience with industrial, manufacturing, energy, or data center cooling water systems. Experience designing funding programs, grants, or impact investment frameworks. Corporate water stewardship or replenishment programs. Waste heat recovery or district heating experience.
