About the Company

Meyers Creative is a Chicago-based B2B marketing agency with a fully remote team working on Central Time (CT). The agency develops brands, marketing campaigns, and websites for clients across manufacturing, rail, HVAC, mining, and other industrial sectors. With more than 40 client websites to manage, Meyers Creative is looking for a Web Development Lead to oversee website development and maintenance while helping grow its web department.

About the Role

The Web Development Lead will manage the development, maintenance, and performance of client websites, primarily built on WordPress. Working closely with the creative team, you’ll turn design concepts into responsive, functional websites and recommend technical solutions that meet project requirements. You’ll also manage hosting and deployments, maintain website security and accessibility, and oversee privacy compliance across the agency’s portfolio. Alongside hands-on development, you’ll scope new projects, establish timelines and budgets, and help coordinate the department’s workload and staffing as the team grows.

Key Responsibilities

Manage client WordPress websites, including new builds, updates, ongoing maintenance, and launches. Translate creative designs into responsive websites that work across devices. Scope new website projects and develop accurate timelines and budgets based on creative specifications. Manage hosting environments and deployments through Pantheon’s development, test, and live workflows. Implement and maintain cookie consent tools and privacy compliance across more than 40 websites, including GDPR, CCPA, and applicable U.S. state privacy laws. Maintain website accessibility in line with ADA and WCAG standards. Set up and test analytics and tracking using GA4, Google Tag Manager, and consent mode. Coordinate with the SEO/SEM partner on technical SEO, page speed, and Core Web Vitals. Participate in creative and project status meetings to discuss technical requirements, feasibility, and delivery timelines. Keep WordPress development, front-end technologies, and website security practices up to date. Recommend technical improvements to strengthen website performance, security, and maintainability. Help plan the web department’s staffing and workflow as the agency expands.

Required Qualifications

At least five years of web development experience, with agency experience strongly preferred. Expertise in custom WordPress theme development and modification. Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript, and PHP. Hands-on experience with Pantheon or comparable managed WordPress hosting that uses Git-based workflows. Experience implementing cookie consent and privacy compliance solutions such as OneTrust, Cookiebot, CookieYes, Termly, or similar tools. Knowledge of Git, version control, and modern build tools. Ability to use AI tools to improve development workflows and productivity. Experience working from Figma or Adobe XD designs. Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor. Experience managing multiple websites and balancing project deadlines. A portfolio of live websites that demonstrates your work, including a clear explanation of your individual contributions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with headless CMS platforms or block-based WordPress development using Gutenberg. Knowledge of REST APIs and third-party integrations, including HubSpot, CRMs, and forms. Experience with multilingual websites and translation plugins. Experience leading or mentoring developers or freelancers. Location & Work Arrangement This is a fully remote position based out of Chicago, with the team working on Central Time (CT). Salary & Benefits Annual salary range: $72,000–$85,000. Medical and dental coverage. Simple IRA retirement matching. Paid holidays and paid time off. $1,000 education stipend after six months. Opportunities for new business and referral bonuses.
