Duties: Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing Possess and apply knowledge of commercial and governmental insurance guidelines pertaining to claims processing Assist with applying patient payments to their balances and managing patient prepayments Assist patients billing inquiries and/or payments on phone or in person Consistently answers phone calls on rotation, on behalf of the billing department Exhibits professionalism while answering questions from patients, peers, and insurance companies Education, Training and Experience: Required: High School Diploma Computer literacy and able to type at least 30wpm 1 or more years’ years’ experience in medical billing and/or insurance claims processing Preferred: Good understanding of ICD10 and CPT codes and their use. Medical Coding or Medical Billing experience Personal Attributes This individual must have good organizational skills as well as excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills. (S)he must project a professional image and work well with the general public and co-workers. Must be able to work as a team member. Physical Demands: Approximately 80% of time spent sitting with some reaching. Occasional bending, twisting, and lifting loads typically not in excess of 45 lbs for up to 50 FT.
