About The Role Reddit is seeking a highly skilled Staff Machine Learning Engineer specializing in Ads Creative Effectiveness. This remote position within the United States offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of advertising at Reddit by developing cutting-edge generative AI products. You will be a key contributor to our Ads Creative Effectiveness team, which focuses on building innovative GenAI and predictive tools to enhance ad creative quality and performance. Your expertise will help craft best-in-class image, video, and copy generators that leverage Reddit’s unique insights and best practices. You will architect advanced workflows for ad creative generation, develop end-to-end editing capabilities, and fine-tune large vision-language models to optimize ad aesthetics and effectiveness. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, compliance, and brand integrity by engineering robust filtering systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed AI capabilities into our ad delivery ecosystem. This role requires a combination of technical excellence, strategic thinking, and collaborative skills to drive impactful results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Deep expertise in machine learning, including neural networks, tree models, and ranking algorithms Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs), including fine-tuning and reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF/RLPF) Strong understanding of ad creative tooling such as headline generation, image generation, and editing workflows Experience with building scalable generative workflows and pipelines for ad creative production Proficiency in developing safety, compliance, and brand-safety filtering systems for AI models Quantitative skills in experimentation, uplift metrics, variance analysis, and A/B testing setup Knowledge of auction dynamics, marketplace behavior, and advertiser pain points Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex ML concepts for non-technical stakeholders Experience working in startup environments, demonstrating agility and a bias for action Prior experience in ad creative tooling and performance optimization for advertising platforms is preferred

Responsibilities

Architect and implement state-of-the-art generative workflows for ad creative production, including image, video, and copy generation Develop end-to-end image and video editing capabilities, enabling smart cropping, inpainting, outpainting, resizing, and style transfer while maintaining brand consistency Fine-tune large vision-language models to understand and optimize "winning" ad aesthetics based on performance metrics like CTR and CVR Build feedback loops and reinforcement learning systems to continuously improve generative outputs based on ad performance data Engineer safety and compliance layers, including filtering, copyright checks, and safety guardrails to prevent non-compliant or unsafe content generation Collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Policy, UX, and other ML teams to integrate AI capabilities into the Ad Manager UI and ad delivery systems Embed brand safety, copyright, and human-in-the-loop escalation mechanisms to protect users and advertisers Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing ad creative tools, performance metrics, and user experience Stay updated on the latest advancements in generative AI and incorporate best practices into product development
