Altruix is seeking a Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization Specialist to support patients and provider partners with benefits investigations, prior authorizations, medication access, and financial assistance. This role works closely with patients, providers, pharmacists, and internal teams to identify coverage barriers and help patients access prescribed medications. RESPONSIBILITIES

Investigation & Prior Authorization: Complete benefits investigations and verify prescription coverage Coordinate prior authorizations from submission through approval, denial, or appeal Utilize CoverMyMeds and payer/provider portals to submit and track authorization requests Coordinate with providers to obtain required documentation and assist with appeals and letters of medical necessity Access, Assistance & Communication: Identify patient financial assistance options, including copay cards, manufacturer assistance programs, foundations/grants, and state-funded programs Support Medicare Part D patients with coverage and available assistance resources Communicate authorization and medication-access updates to patients, caregivers, providers, facilities, and internal pharmacy teams Troubleshoot insurance, billing, and medication-access issues and escalate when appropriate Maintain accurate documentation within pharmacy, CRM, payer, and provider systems Support specialty and LTC pharmacy workflows and provide cross-functional support as needed Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED Active Pharmacy Technician registration with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy Knowledge of pharmacy insurance processing and prescription benefits Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities with strong attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn multiple pharmacy and insurance platforms Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred Two or more years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred Prior experience with prior authorizations, benefits investigations, specialty pharmacy, or patient financial assistance preferred Experience with Medicare Part D, Medicaid, commercial insurance, or manufacturer assistance programs preferred Familiarity with CoverMyMeds, SuiteRx, Salesforce, Framework, Availity, EHR portals, or similar systems preferred Specialty or long-term care pharmacy experience preferred BENEFITS: Competitive pay, $24.00 to $27.00 an hour Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability 401(k) program Paid time off Paid holidays EEOC: Altruix is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in recruiting, hiring, placement, training, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfers, leaves of absence, compensation, or other employment practices based on any protected characteristic under federal, state, or local law.
