Senior IT Project Manager Software Development & Systems Integration | Waterfall Methodology Position Summary We are seeking a seasoned Senior IT Project Manager with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex software development, application implementation, and systems integration projects. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing multiple concurrent IT initiatives using traditional Waterfall project management methodologies. This is a hands-on project management role requiring strong expertise in project planning, scheduling, financial management, vendor coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead projects from initiation through completion, manage cross-functional teams, and deliver results within established scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery Lead complex IT projects from initiation through successful implementation and closure, with a primary focus on software development, application integration, and enterprise technology initiatives. Manage multiple concurrent projects (typically three or more), with average project durations of 6–8 months. Apply Waterfall project management methodologies to establish structured project plans, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and governance. Develop and maintain detailed, effort-driven, auto-scheduled project plans using Microsoft Project/Project Server. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including application developers, business analysts, architects, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders. Manage project resources within a matrixed organizational structure, addressing competing priorities and resource availability. Oversee project execution, testing, implementation, and transition activities to ensure successful delivery. Financial & Vendor Management Manage project budgets of $150K or greater, including financial planning, forecasting, tracking, and variance analysis. Reconcile planned versus actual resource hours, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate estimates to complete (ETC). Monitor project expenditures, vendor invoices, and financial forecasts to ensure alignment with approved budgets. Proactively identify financial risks, funding requirements, and opportunities to optimize project spending. Manage third-party vendors, including requesting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing Statements of Work (SOWs). Track vendor deliverables, dependencies, commitments, and performance throughout the project lifecycle. Governance, Risk & Stakeholder Management Follow established project management processes, governance standards, and reporting requirements. Identify, track, and proactively manage project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and critical decisions. Develop and communicate regular project status reports covering milestones, financial performance, risks, and overall project health. Facilitate project meetings with technical teams, business sponsors, executive stakeholders, and vendors. Communicate project challenges, impacts, and recommendations clearly and confidently to leadership. Drive timely issue resolution, escalate critical concerns appropriately, and maintain accountability for project outcomes. Utilize Azure DevOps to support project tracking, work item visibility, and coordination with technical delivery teams. Required Qualifications 7+ years of recent, hands-on IT project management experience successfully delivering complex technology initiatives. Proven experience managing software development, application development, and/or systems integration projects. Demonstrated success delivering multiple IT projects from initiation through completion, typically with 6–8 month delivery timelines. Strong experience managing projects with budgets of $150K or greater.
