About the Company

Turing is an AGI infrastructure company that works with leading AI research labs to accelerate model development. Its work includes high-quality training data, model evaluations, and engineering talent to support the development of advanced AI systems.

About the Role

Turing is seeking a Remote Python/Typescript Engineer to support AI training data and evaluation workflows. The role combines software engineering with preference data review, rubric development, and quality assessment. You will help define evaluation criteria, identify subtle issues in data, and build the infrastructure needed to support data generation, collection, and evaluation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Python or TypeScript, understands preference data and rubric creation, and can communicate technical findings clearly. You should be comfortable working through ambiguous problems, collaborating with researchers and engineers, and delivering practical solutions in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, refine, and improve rubrics and evaluation criteria for preference data. Review and label data carefully, identifying subtle quality issues and inconsistencies. Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure that support data generation, collection, and evaluation workflows. Analyze findings from data-related work and communicate conclusions through clear written summaries, project updates, and recommendations. Collaborate with researchers and engineers to turn qualitative judgments into consistent, scalable processes. Apply sound technical judgment when assessing data quality and explain why particular examples meet or fail evaluation standards. Contribute to engineering workflows that support AI training and evaluation projects.

Required Qualifications

Proficiency in Python, particularly for building and maintaining pipelines and infrastructure, or TypeScript. Hands-on experience with preference data collection, rubric creation, or both. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical work in concise, actionable terms. Strong quality judgment and the ability to articulate what makes an example effective or ineffective. Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and prioritize practical execution. Preferred Qualifications / Requirements Experience contributing to or navigating large codebases, such as Visual Studio Code (VSCode), is a plus for candidates working with TypeScript. Experience collaborating with AI researchers and engineers on data quality, evaluation criteria, or scalable workflows is relevant to the role.
