Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Atlassian is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to build and ship features in a scalable, distributed environment. The role focuses on backend service reliability, security, performance, testing, monitoring, and collaboration throughout Agile development.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship new features and capabilities daily within a highly scalable, cross-geo distributed environment
• Collaborate in an open and supportive workspace alongside experienced engineers, architects, product managers, and designers
• Contribute to code reviews that emphasize readability
• Test best practices, documentation, reliability, security, and performance, while also mentoring teammates through formal and informal knowledge-sharing sessions
• Ensure full visibility, error reporting, and monitoring of high-performing backend services
• Actively participate in Agile development processes, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demo sessions

Skills

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, and three (3) years of related work experience
• In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, and one (1) year of related work experience
• Must have one (1) year of experience with/in: Backend application development and architecture
• Design and implementation of scalable, high-performance RESTful microservices
• Object-oriented programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala, or Python)
• Database technologies (RDBMS: Oracle, Postgres; or NoSQL: Elasticsearch, DynamoDB)
• Public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models and cloud architecture patterns; and
• Software quality, reliability, and performance
